For food lovers seeking the ultimate European river cruise experience, Riverside Luxury Cruises is a name to know. Though relatively new to the rivers of Europe, this luxury cruise line has quickly established itself as a standout in the culinary and hospitality space. If you’re a gourmand with a passion for travel, prepare to be delighted by the exquisite offerings aboard Riverside’s ships.

A Culinary Journey Along the Danube

Our adventure began with the "Legends of the Danube" itinerary, a 4-night/5-day voyage that took us from the enchanting city of Budapest to Bratislava, through the picturesque Wachau Valley, and concluded in the historic splendor of Vienna. Each destination offered its own charm, but the culinary experiences aboard the Riverside Mozart were the true highlight.

Setting the Stage: A Luxurious Pre-Cruise Stay

Before embarking, we stayed at the opulent Matild Palace hotel in Budapest, perfectly situated by the Elizabeth Bridge and the Danube River. This pre-cruise indulgence set the tone for the luxury to come. We sipped champagne on the rooftop with stunning views of the city and enjoyed a traditional Hungarian breakfast the next morning.

Welcome Aboard the Riverside Mozart

Riverside’s complimentary hotel transfer whisked us to the Danube, where the Riverside Mozart awaited. Twice the width of a standard river cruise ship, this floating boutique hotel is a marvel. From the moment we stepped aboard, we were treated to impeccable service, starting with a cool scented towel and a flute of Taittinger champagne. Our personal butler and room attendant ensured our suite was perfectly prepared, leaving us to relax and soak in the elegance of our surroundings.

A Feast for the Senses

The culinary journey began at the Blue Bar & Grill, where we enjoyed a casual yet refined lunch. Freshly crafted lemonades with lavender and basil complemented beautifully presented dishes, setting the stage for the gastronomic delights to come.

Evenings aboard the Riverside Mozart were nothing short of magical. On our first night, we dined on the Vista Deck, savoring a BBQ dinner while cruising past Budapest’s illuminated landmarks. Another unforgettable moment was dining al fresco during a sunset sail through the Wachau Valley, where golden light bathed the castles and charming towns. Each course was paired with local wines expertly selected by the onboard sommeliers, who eagerly shared their knowledge.

For an elevated dining experience, the exclusive Vintage Room offers a Michelin-quality meal in an intimate setting (available at an additional cost). This was a true highlight for any foodie seeking a once-in-a-lifetime culinary treat.

Exploring Europe’s Heart

While the Riverside Mozart offers e-bikes, a gym, and an indoor pool, we chose to immerse ourselves in the destinations and the food. River cruising’s greatest appeal is the seamless access to city centers, and we loved stepping off the ship to explore Budapest and Bratislava on foot.
